Properties
The tryptamine class includes 4-HO-EPT. All tryptamines, including 4-HO-DMT (the key ingredient in magic mushrooms), share a structure that includes an amino group mounted on a bicyclic heterocyclic indole heterocyclic. This is attached at R3 by an ethyl sidechain.
At R4 of the indole heterocycle, a hydroxyl functional band OH- causes a substitution. A propyl and an ethyl chain are bound to the tryptamine backbone. They link to the terminal amino Rn.
4-HO-EPT Effects
Similar to most psychedelic attemptptamines, 4-HOEPT acts principally as a HTML2A partial agonist. The 4-HO-EPT binding ability at 5-HT2A receptors is believed to be the key to the psychedelic effects. The role of these interactions in the psychedelic experience is still unknown.
